A few short months after the Kincade Fire terrified the denizens of Healdsburg, I went up the hill behind Fitch Mountain to see the scars left behind.  This whole hillside had been in flames in October, and by New Year’s Day the freshly sprouted green grass had nearly obscured the charred ground.  Some of the trees had burned, but they survived.  Rejuvenation was already well along.  It was a reassuring sight.
